IT strategy refresh for a large government agency

Programme Background

A large Government agency set out to refresh their existing IT strategy for execution over a 5-year time frame. The strategy needed to be presented and approved by the Executive Committee, however the previous strategy was not fit for purpose as it was too long, developed without full consultation and was not reflective of their achievements.

Finyx were asked to refresh the strategy documents with a full consultation with all business partners, IT workstreams and leadership teams including the Executive Committee so that the impact could be known and understood to all stakeholders.

Engagement challenges
floating-background

Difficulty attaining consensus across internal and external stakeholders

Time constraints making it difficult to analyse and dissect primary materials

Lack of clarity around how to present the strategy to a wide audience

Our Approach
Working closely with the client, we agreed that the strategy document would be iterated over an 11-week period. During that time, we collated and analysed all the necessary documentation to feed into the strategy refresh and consulted with all stakeholders ensuring that their views would be represented. Working in an agile manner, we held regular sessions with our project sponsor and functional leads to ensure that all views were considered and represented in the final deliverables.
Results Achieved
  • Successful sign off from the CIO
  • Presentation to the Executive Committee
  • Creation of a clear, easy to understand strategy conforming to corporate standards
